Get sloshed with red wine!

When: 29th June every year.
Where: Haro, La Rioja, Spain.
As the name suggests the Haro Wine Battle involves throwing copious amounts of wine over everybody!
In Haro, La Rioja, Spain, in the morning of 29th June every year, a procession takes place in the streets of the town. At the head is the mayor on horseback with a banner and following him are the citizens of Haro, all dressed in white with red scarfs. They are carrying jugs, bottles or whatever can be filled with wine.
After mass the battle begins and everybody sprinkles (or throws) wine over each other till everyone has turned pink! Then they return to the town to have tapas and drink more wine (if there’s any left!) around bonfires.
