Viva la Virgin!
When: 3rd Saturday in September.
Where: Naga City, Philippines.
A spectacular water procession carries a statue of the Blessed Virgin of Peñafrancia on a decorated flatboat. Along the river banks hundreds and thousands of devotees shouting “Viva la Virgin” watch as the Virgin is carried to her Basilica along the Bicol River from the Metropolitan Cathedral where she has been resting for the last 9 days.
The Peñafrancia Fiesta is Naga City’s biggest annual celebration and in true Filipino style the week preceding the celebration features parades, a sports festival, exhibitions, a regatta and of course the obligatory beauty pageant.
When is Penafrancia Fiesta?
There are many events surrounding the Fiesta but the main fluvial parade is always on the third Saturday of September.
