Love is in the water…
When: Weekend nearest Feb 14th (Valentine’s day).
Where: Trang, Thailand.
Trang’s underwater wedding ceremony must be one of the most unusual ways to tie the knot. It has become very popular amongst those who fancy standing 12 metres underwater on a white sandy sea bed to utter their vows. One way to make it a Valentine wedding a day to remember!
Around thirty couples from Thailand and around the world take part in this special group wedding ceremony, held around St Valentine’s Day under the crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea in Trang in South Thailand.
The Bhuddhist ceremony consists of pouring lustre water (water which has been blessed by Buddhist monks) from a holy conch shell. It is traditional for older happily married couples to escort the newly weds to their honeymoon suite in the hope of some of their wisdom and experience being imparted to them, and to bring peace and long-lasting relationship as well as the eternity of love to the bridal couples.
Food & Drink
Neow (sticky rice) is an important dish for weddings as it is believed to be an auspicious symbol to bring couples and their families together.
