Dreaming of Australia…
When: Usually in mid June, the festival in 2011 has been moved to Dec 27th to 1st Jan because of severe flooding.
Where: Woodford, Queensland, Australia.
The Dreaming Festival celebrates indigenous culture from music, dance and art to ancient healing. The event not only celebrates the local culture of the Jinibara people, but also of indigenous tribes across Australia and the rest of the world.
Every night fires are lit and tribal ceremonies and rituals begin to the eerie hollow sound of Aborigine didgeredoos. During the day there are street theatres and performers, markets, traditional healing ceremonies as well as story tellers.
The festival happens in mid June every year in a natural valley just outside of Woodford in Queensland. Usually in June, the 2011 event is postponed to December due to severe flooding in the area.
